Alerts:  On the landing page you’ll see a flashing “alert” sign.

It will take you to this page, where we will put time-critical information to help you maximize your pro-life clout.

Call your Washington Rep today!  Or leave a message or e-mail tonight!

There’s a vote Thursday, Feb. 16, (tomorrow!) to reverse an Obama rule protecting Planned Parenthood.

Remember when some states decided to redirect Title X funding from Planned Parenthood to community-type health facilities?
Remember that then-President Obama put out a rule that said they couldn’t take money away from Planned Parenthood?
We can fix this!

H.J. Res. 43 reverses the Obama administration rule.  We need to support it.

What:  Reversal of the protection of Planned Parenthood’s Title X funding.

How:  Support H.J.Res. 43.

What to say:  Title X funding should be used to support community health centers, not Planned Parenthood.

When: NOW!  Today!  Because the vote is tomorrow.

Action:  Call your House Representative in Washington and ask him or her to vote FOR J.H. Res. 43. Or leave a message or e-mail or fax!

Two pieces of information are pasted below:
A link to the House to help you connect with your Representative is below (A).
For your information purposes, the letter from National Right to Life Committee to Congress is below (B).  This letter serves to tell Congress that NRLC is going to be watching to see how they vote.

If you received this as an e-mail and do not wish to continue receiving this kind of communication, please so signify by return e-mail.

Thank you for your concern for the most vulnerable among us.

(A)  To connect with your representative:  Go to www.house.gov. At the top right of the home page is a box for you to enter your zip code. It will give you the Representative’s name and district.  If you click on the name, it will take you to the page for that Rep, with options for contact.  Even if your Rep is pro-abortion it is worth a short, very polite communication saying you disagree.  Louise Slaughter, for instance, calls this “the most serious threat to women’s health so far this Congress.”  You won’t change her mind, but she needs to know we are out here and we disagree.

(B)  Letter to Congress

RE: Scorecard advisory on H.J. Res. 43, using the Congressional Review Act to overturn the Obama Administration rule related to Title X grant recipient requirements

Dear Member of Congress:

The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of state right-to-life organizations, urges you to support H. J. Res. 43, sponsored by Rep. Diane Black. This resolution employs the Congressional Review Act to nullify an Obama Administration rule designed to prevent states from redirecting Title X funds away from unsuitable organizations.

NRLC intends to include the roll call on final passage of H. J. Res. 43 in our scorecard of key right-to-life votes of the 115th Congress.

In recent years, several states receiving Title X family planning grants have opted to direct those funds to county health departments, community health centers, or other types of providers, in preference to organizations engaged in objectionable activities, such as Planned Parenthood, a mega-marketer of abortion that has also been involved in fetal organ trafficking.

Over one-third of all abortions in the U.S. are performed at PPFA-affiliated facilities. Longstanding objections to the massive governmental funding of PPFA have been reinforced by widely publicized undercover videos, which illuminate the callous brutality that occurs daily in these abortion mills. For additional up-to-date information on the extent of Planned Parenthood’s involvement in abortion, see: www.nrlc.org/communications/ppfamediabackground/.

Thank you for your consideration of the position of National Right to Life on this matter of grave importance to our organization.

Sincerely,

Signed by Carol Tobias, President,  David N. O’Steen, Ph.D., Executive Director, and Jennifer Popik, J.D., Legislative Director

The verbiage below will be removed shortly.

Verbiage for non-alert times:  There may be a legislator in Albany who needs to have you politely inquire how he plans to vote on a particular bill.  There may be a House Representative in Washington who should be urged to vote for (or against) a bill that is coming up.  There may be a legislator who has made a statement in error that harms the pro-life cause and your input is needed to properly inform him.  Or there may be a community project that should receive support and you might notice that it’s in your neighborhood.  Or there may be an opportunity to participate in a peaceful demonstration like 40 Days for Life.

This page will contain contact information to allow you to be as efficient as possible as you advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Right now, the alert sign is not flashing and we do not have an action item to recommend.
